Exactly 24 hours ago, I recieved a text message from my Twitter account. It was an update from my favorite band of all time, Avenged Sevenfold. It read: "It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we tell you of the passing today of The Rev"

I froze. My heart began to slam against the insides of my throat. I immediatly went to the official Avenged Sevenfold website for further confirmation....and there it was:

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we tell you of the passing today of Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan. Jimmy was not only one of the world's best drummers, but more importantly he was our best friend and brother. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jimmy's family and we hope that you will respect their privacy during this difficult time.

Jimmy you are forever in our hearts.
We love you.

By the time I finished reading, my keyboard was soaked with tears. I sat on my bed, rocking back and fourth while hugging my knees, sobbing. It must've been a sight. It lasted until 4am.

I haven't stopped listening to Avenged Sevenfold since. It's been on repeat since this morning.

The Reverend...Jimmy...he's been my idol for two years now. In a way, I idolize everyone in Avenged Sevenfold; but Jimmy and Zacky are the two I look up to the most. Jimmy went from living on the streets to a life saver. Avenged Sevenfold kept me breathing throughout my Sophmore year of high school. They kept me breathing my Junior year, after I had my heart viciously mangled. When no one else was there, their music was waiting with open arms. I've been alive ever since, thanks to them.

Jimmy's death has shaken me in many ways. In a way, though, he isn't dead. His memory is very much alive in my mind. I was lucky enough to witness him perform live December 12th, 2008. That will forever be etched in my heart.

Jimmy, I love you.
